Another step towards traffik-free chocolate

Nestle have today made an announcement extending the provision of traffik-free chocolate in their products. This is fantastic news and great step in the right direction, especially as they have also announced co-operation with the Fair Labor Association to investigate the exploitation of children in the production of chocolate in the
Côte d'Ivoire.

However, there is still a long way to go and still many chocolate companies and shops putting little or no effort into ensuring that trafficking is not a part of their chocolate production. There is absolutely no excuse for this. There is no price that could be too much for ensuring the welfare of the most vulnerable in our global society. Regardless of logistics, the effect on profits or anything else, all companies have the responsibility to promote and practice ethical behaviour in their endeavours. We cannot allow a capitalistic viewpoint to let companies get away with alienating themselves from the atrocities perpetrated in order to make them profits.
